NEET UG study plan: 6-month and 12-month tracks (free)

Built from the shared modules mapped to neet-ug in registry/exams.toml and the NEET UG exam page. The NTA information bulletin and the National Medical Commission syllabus on https://neet.nta.nic.in are the authority for the exact chapter list: confirm it there before you start. Everything recommended here is free and official; no paid or coaching material is used.

Modules in study order

Biology leads (half the paper: 90 of 180 questions); physics and chemistry run alongside every week.

# Module Scope in this plan
1 Biology (NCERT Class 11–12) NCERT line by line: diversity → physiology → reproduction/genetics → biotech/ecology
2 Chemistry (NCERT Class 11–12) Physical (problem practice) → organic → inorganic (NCERT-line reading)
3 Physics (NCERT Class 11–12) Mechanics → electromagnetism → optics → modern; derive every formula once

How to use this plan

  1. Week 1, before studying: solve one previous paper cold and timed, from the official NTA archive. Tag every question with its module and chapter; the weakest chapters get the earliest revision slots.
  2. Biology is NCERT wording: read the NCERT lines, not summaries; questions follow the textbook closely. Physics and chemistry come from NCERT first, then the NCERT exemplar problems.
  3. With −1 per wrong answer, skipping is a skill: practise leaving doubtful questions unanswered in every mock and check whether your score rises.
  4. NTA Abhyas for practice volume: previous papers plus Abhyas mocks are the studying, not just a final check.
  5. Last sixth: full mocks and previous papers only, no new chapters.

12-month track (52 weeks)

Weeks Module(s) Work (free sources)
1–2 Diagnostic One previous paper cold, timed; read the bulletin chapter list on https://neet.nta.nic.in
3–16 Biology + Chemistry + Physics, Class 11 Biology: diversity, cell, plant and human physiology. Chemistry: physical (mole, thermo, equilibrium, kinetics). Physics: mechanics, thermo, waves. NCERT exercises per chapter
17–30 Biology + Chemistry + Physics, Class 12 Biology: reproduction, genetics, evolution, biotech, ecology. Chemistry: organic + coordination/d/f-block. Physics: electrostatics → magnetism → optics → modern. Exemplar per chapter
31–36 All three modules, gap-filling Remaining inorganic chemistry + revision of human welfare/ecology; NIOS material (https://www.nios.ac.in) for any chapter that still resists
37–42 All three modules, second pass Exemplar + weak-chapter re-solves from tagged PYQs; biology NCERT re-read line by line
43–48 All three modules, timed NTA Abhyas mocks + previous papers, analysed question by question
49–52 Mocks only Full 3-hour papers; revise from your mistake log, no new chapters

6-month track (26 weeks)

Same biology-led structure at double pace; for students already in Class 12 or repeating.

Weeks Module(s) Work (free sources)
1 Diagnostic One previous paper cold, timed; read the bulletin chapter list
2–8 Biology + Chemistry + Physics, Class 11 Physiology-heavy biology + physical chemistry + mechanics; NCERT exercises
9–15 Biology + Chemistry + Physics, Class 12 Genetics-led biology + organic + EM/optics; exemplar per chapter
16–18 All three modules, gap-filling Inorganic + modern physics + ecology/biotech revision
19–21 All three modules, second pass Weak chapters from tagged PYQs; biology NCERT re-read
22–26 Mocks only NTA Abhyas + previous papers timed; mistake-log revision, no new chapters

Weekly rhythm (both tracks)

  • Six study days, one lighter day for revision and rest; biology every day, physics and chemistry alongside.
  • Every week: one timed sectional or full mock; log every mistake with its reason and re-solve it after a week, then after a month (see study methods).
  • Every month: check remaining weeks against the official exam date and move unfinished chapters forward.
